The IESG has approved the following document: - 'BGP SR Policy Extensions for Network Resource Partition' (draft-ietf-idr-sr-policy-nrp-13.txt) as Proposed Standard
This document is the product of the Inter-Domain Routing Working Group. The IESG contact persons are Gunter Van de Velde, Jim Guichard and Ketan Talaulikar. A URL of this Internet-Draft is: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-idr-sr-policy-nrp/ Technical Summary Segment Routing (SR) Policy is a set of candidate paths, each consisting of one or more segment lists and the associated information. The header of a packet steered in an SR Policy is augmented with an ordered list of segments associated with that SR Policy. A Network Resource Partition (NRP) is a subset of network resources allocated in the underlay network which can be used to support one or a group of RFC 9543 network slice services. In networks where there are multiple NRPs, an SR Policy may be associated with a particular NRP. The association between SR Policy and NRP needs to be specified, so that for service traffic which is steered into the SR Policy, the header of the packets can be augmented with the information associated with the NRP. An SR Policy candidate path can be distributed using BGP SR Policy. This document defines the extensions to BGP SR policy to specify the NRP which the SR Policy candidate path is associated with. Working Group Summary There was a debate within the WG participants and authors on the dependency between this work and the work in TEAS and SPRING WGs that the BGP extensions in this document are dependent on. This has been addressed by normative reference to those documents. The IDR WG rough consensus was to progress the publication of this document and let the document dependency resolve in the RFC Editor queue. Document Quality There are two implementations of the extensions in this document and they are reported at https://github.com/ietf/wiki.ietf.org/blob/main/group/idr/implementations/draft-ietf-idr-sr-policy-nrp.md The document has gone through early reviews by RTGDIR, OPSIDR, and SECDIR. The document was also cross-posted to TEAS and SPRING WGs during its development. Personnel The Document Shepherd for this document is Susan Hares. The Responsible Area Director is Ketan Talaulikar. _______________________________________________ IETF-Announce mailing list -- [email protected] To unsubscribe send an email to [email protected]
