The IESG has approved the following document: - 'RTP Payload Format for ISO/IEC 21122 (JPEG XS)' (draft-ietf-avtcore-rtp-jpegxs-3ed-07.txt) as Proposed Standard
This document is the product of the Audio/Video Transport Core Maintenance Working Group. The IESG contact persons are Gorry Fairhurst and Mike Bishop. A URL of this Internet-Draft is: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-avtcore-rtp-jpegxs-3ed/ Technical Summary This document specifies a Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP) payload format for transport of a video signal encoded with JPEG XS (ISO/IEC 21122). JPEG XS is a low-latency and low-complexity video coding system. Employing this format allows achieving encoding-decoding latencies confined to a fraction of a video frame. This document is a necessary revision of RFC 9134 to incorporate support for new features introduced in the third edition of JPEG XS. Most notably, it contains the necessary provisions to support the TDC coding mode. This document obsoletes RFC 9134; however, the revised payload format is designed to ensure that existing compliant implementations of RFC 9134 remain valid under the updated specification. Additionally, this document consolidates the errata of RFC 9134 and includes improvements and clarifications to its implementers and users. Working Group Summary The document is a new iteration of RFC 9134, which was also a product of the AVTCORE WG, and incorporates verified errata as well as new features from the third edition of JPEG XS. As such, the document enjoys good support and quickly passed through the stages in the WG. Document Quality This document provides an update on RFC9134, mainly to add support for the TDC profile of JPEG XS (which was added in the 3rd edition of the ISO/IEC standards). Otherwise, the new document clarifies and fixes some issues that were present in RFC9134. There are many vendors (in addition to intoPIX) that have implemented JPEG XS transport over RTP. The specification intended status is Proposed Standard, as is usual for documents defining RTP payload format and was also the case for RFC 9134. This will, when published, obsolete RFC 9134. Personnel The Document Shepherd for this document is Marius Kleidl. The Responsible Area Director is Gorry Fairhurst. _______________________________________________ IETF-Announce mailing list -- [email protected] To unsubscribe send an email to [email protected]
