Huh? You said above "Changed in Transit" That is by definition a retransmission. Some middle ware/router is doing the "changed in transit" right?

If an email is changed from Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit to quoted-printable or base64 as it passes from an 8BITMIME-compliant MTA to a Non-8BITMIME-compliant MTA, is that "retransmission", or not?
