[data removed] RFC 2821 doesn't preclude the behaviour you've implemented (a quick second try with slower retries after that.) So I don't think it's necessary to modify the RFC to suggest that maybe a quick second try is a good idea. We don't want to codify something in an RFC that might be inappropriate a few years from now. Regards, David.
