there have been cases where names were published by the iab or iesg, e,g, in selecting for the iaoc and the isoc bot.
while i know it is probably impossible to know how many people refused to be considered because of the publication (don't remember if there was a opt-out of publication opportunity - if so it would be interesting to know how many chose it), what i would be interested in knowing is whether the I* received many comments from a wide cross section of the ietf community on those occasions.
