Niken, Have you compared MBACK to using the 'CLnorm' normalization in Athena (found under "Background Removal Additional Parameters")? The algorithms are not identical, but have a lot in common, and would probably make it easier to compare with other data in Athena. If I understand correctly, your sulfur spectra were not collected in fluorescence with a solid-state detector, so that part of what MBACK is really good at doesn't apply, and the CLnorm normalization is pretty close to other part of MBACK.
