What I've done is to write a program once that created the color triangle without labels and then copy that triangle to any figure that needs it. That works because the triangle is always the same. You want to be careful to use the right color model (additive vs. subtractive).
On a related topic, there's the issue of accommodation to color blindness. In principle, if someone only has two kinds of cones, then they'll always be missing something from a 3-color map. Some people think that by using cyan, magenta and yellow as primaries they can get around the problem, but that doesn't really work.
