I have tried to summarize it here 

1) NON SSL server setup works for you, but thick clients are not bale to 
connect - I think when code was released SSL was made as mandate. I will check 
on this. 
2) SSL server setup works fine too 
3) Server and client on same machine ? - Need a little more time to check on 
this.

Confirmed working. Thats the first setup ppl will test probably.

Nevertheless - you won't be able to connect to such a server with current
client ! As the client / gui code enforces https:// as scheme - even if
explicitely entered ! Try it !
