You could use that as a starting point and start experimenting from there.

Simias (iFolder Server) exposes its APIs as webservices. So yes you should
be able to write your own application. (I hope thats what you ment by
plugins). So from moodle you can call these  webservice APIs and write your
moodle plugins. I'd be glad to help you with this if you need more
information.
