A 24-hour rpg is a game conceived, written and edited in one 24-hour period. It's a design triathalon, as the originators (check out 24hourrpg.com for more details).
The forge (www.indie-rpgs.com) sometimes runs 'Iron Game Chef' challenges, where participants have to create a game inspired by a few keywords. I'm running a 24-hour Game Chef challenge this weekend. On Friday the 23rd, at around Midday, I'll post the three keywords to the igaming mailing list and to this Irishgaming livejournal community. An entry must clearly involve TWO of the three keywords. For example, if the keywords were Plague, Comics and Travel, then viable entries might be Superheroes vs Zombies, a game where characters enter into comic-book worlds from the real world, a game where the characters are working for the CDC trying to prevent the spread of a dangerous disease... Anyone reading this message is welcome to take part. Participants have until midnight on Monday the 26th to finish their entries, but all work should be done in a single 24-hour period (so, if you start at midday Friday, you should mail the entry to me before midday Saturday; if you wait until Monday morning, you've got until midnight to finish). Entries should be mailed, in .doc or .pdf or a similar format, to [EMAIL PROTECTED] An entry should be a complete, playable game, probably including a setting, rules for character generation, a resolution system, adversaries, adventures - whatever makes it, in your eyes, a complete game. A voucher for 50euro on drivethrurpg.com will be awarded to the winner, as judged by me. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
