Most of the STOCs Alumni (like myself ) agree with your sentiments
Brian. But we don't get to vote about it.

The problem, afaiu, is that the policy in DCU has changed and that if
STOCs doesnt' have a big enough committee and active membership it
will cease to exist in the eyes of SPC who give funding to the
societies. Effectivily it'll die anyway with no chance of revivial
except as a "new" society and have to start all over again with
funding etc. I think the current committee saw that merging with the
Games Soc will keep the society alive, but not so in the eyes of us
old farts.

I'll miss it. I was certainly still going to STOCs meetings up until
last year (when we had another baby). If they had needed money, I
would have certainly paid above and beyond the normal student
membership...
