Very well written, Gar, and interesting! It was evident at Vaticon at the weekend that lots of people are following all this RPG discussion closely. And in light of this, there have been plans brewing to organise some kind of Writers Workshop. I think the idea that Janet and a few folks were throwing around in the LJ post sound pretty good - I'll happily organise a venue for this and attend a Writers Workshop if there is interest in it, or I can help you organise it Janet, if you'd prefer. Baz was enthusiastically talking to a lot of people about it at the weekend, and there's a bit of interest in the idea. He is also doing workshops as part of his job at the moment, so he has some experience in running them.
I, myself, have very little experience of writing scenarios, but I know there's a whole bunch of people out there who do - and people tend to have very different ideas of how a con scenario should be written, so if we could get some of you guys interested that would be great. If the first workshop worked out well, and people benefitted from it, then we could try to organise more of these in a few different places around the country so that more people could get involved! I know this isn't the first time that this idea has been suggested, and it's definitely been thrown around on igaming more than once in the past... Few questions: 1. Would folks be willing to travel for something like this? Cork/Galway/Dublin? 2. Would any of you wonderful experienced writers come along and give the benefit of your experience? 3. Assumedly, if it took place in the month of May it wouldn't clash with any cons as Vaticon is just done with and Q-Con isn't til the end of June - right? Also, it could be fun to meet up with people in a non-con capacity where none of us are madly running around trying to organise things! :) How would that suit folks? Let me know what you think anyways! Noirin
