As seen on IrishGaming.Com's forum: This may be of interest to some.
Hit & Run Tactical Assault airsoft, Ireland's first airsoft site, runs a "military simulation" game on bank holiday Mondays (military simulation, or milsim, meaning more realistic rules than the infinite-ammo infinite-lives norm). This May Day, I'm writing the game, and throwing in a number of gaming elements as well (minor LARP motivations, some NPC interaction etc.). I'd love to see more cross-over between the gaming and airsoft hobbies, because they're so damn similar. For this you'll need your own gear already, although the post-apocalyptic setting makes costuming easier than a full Spetsnaz load-out. More details are available on Boards.ie, but here's the basics: The Last War has blown itself out; survivors of the apocalypse scavenge the carcass of the old world to live. Resources are scarce and life cheap, so a recently-destroyed convoy is a prize worth fighting for - both for the inhabitants of the nearby town of Salvage and for The Priest's wasteland acolytes. But there's more going on around Salvage than meets the eye. Why wasn't the convoy picked clean already? What deadly secret do the survivors hold? And who's watching? A post-apocalyptic milsim game with multiple objectives to consider, optional role-playing motivations and an evolving storyline. Ammo limits and mortality rules will be in effect. Non-winding magazines only. The game will run all day, so carry lunch in! (apologies for use of the phrase "deadly secret". Such a hack) Shane -- I found out, long ago It's a long way down the holiday road
