ok, here goes. after reboot in softwre didn't work, one of actcom's
support personel physically reset the machine. ofcourse, fsck failed, and
it had to be carried out in manual mode, one file system at a time (i had
to give him the root password to perform that, so if anyone wants to
change the root password now go ahead, just coordinate how to give us the
new password).
anyway, there were lots of errors in the raid file system, as well as
errors in /var, and perhaps also in /usr/local . we did not fsck '/'
manualy, so i don't know about its status - i hope its ok.
the fsck for the raid file system took around 30-40 minutes. the rest took
a few seconds, or less then a minute for each of them.
the machine is now up, web seerver seems to work - i don't evenwant to
check ftp.
