Hi there and Happy Pesakh everyone,

I just peeked at IGLU and saw that the April 1st joke (which I found a
bit uneasy to begin with) to have gathered some real problematic answers
this week, which go into dirty politics. Seeing that such posts remain
for a long time on the front page, and I know that business people and
reporters DO check out the page once in a while, the Cabal should
consider removing them to avoid bad publicity for the group's cause. I
remember a case 3-4 years ago when a group of guys from Gaza wanted to
cooperate (for real) and the assholes of the linux-il list had them flee
away from even the mailing list.

While you can't do more than condemn it on the list, you sould
definitely not encourage it on your public website. Out of all the Linux
websites and webgroups, I feel the Israeli Linux people should have been
more sensitive to political aspects and stick to a technical joke rather
than an obvious troll for racist remarks. Linux is about sharing and
cooperation, afterall. if linux-il can't set an example and initiate
cooperation, it should at least not act as a billboard for the opposite
oppinions :-(

while on the subject of BSI, I'll add a positive idea here, so as not to
make this entire post a negative one. It annoys the hell out of me that
a commercial organization like that is permitted to advertise FUD on
Galatz and Galgalatz. I hope some of you have contacts in IBM or some
other big Linux supporter who can afford this: financial help to
linux-il as proxy to advertise free software as an Alternative for
illegally copied proprietary software.

btw, on May 5th:
http://microsoft.com/israel/events/biz_event.asp

M$Offics XP is out. Once again the public beta is released one day AFTER
the program went gold, out to the printers. the small business owners
out there should be aware of the competition/option of Linux. for now
not competing with a Hebrew office but a small business server at the
very least. I've been out of touch with Linux and the group for some
time now, but I'll come to a demo if you guys arrange it :)

Have a great one,
        Ira.

P.S.
To whoever is maintaining the mirrors: my apt-get keeps getting daily
404s. if you don't have the disk space it's not worth half-mirroring
verticly, instead do half-mirrors horizontally. in any case, I'm
removing iglu from my sources.list for now, sadly.
