Status:
Server is up, after successful re-boot and filesystem restoration.
After a boot RAID filesystem was found corrupted, and was fsck'ed twice.
A great "thank you" goes to Muli Ben-Yehuda, Amir Plivatsky and Chen Shapira
for performing the task.
Following activities should be taken in the near future:
1. Re-synching the mirrors -
mirror filesystem was modified while fsck'ing and some of the files had
gone to lost+found.
Priority - high
2. Finding out the cause of failures -
One hypothesis is that the cause of disk failures is high operating
temperature
of the platters.
In case the temperature is too high, installing a powerful fan in front
of disks inside the
box can help.
Priority - high.
3. Finding out how many free space is inside the box. I had tried to reach
Compaq ProLiant 800
documentation, but with no result. Having it would help us decide how
much disks can be
added to IGLU without external cabinets.
Priority - medium/high
4. Providing and adding new disks.
5. Since now we have 200% more people that can attend server boots, IGLU
kernel should
be updated to stablest 2.2.x one ( presumably 2.2.19 ). Currently IGLU
uses 2.2.14
Update to 2.4 is postponed until there 2.4 series will be stable enough
to be used.
Priority - medium.

ok, addendum to my earlier mail. i'll be dropping by actcom tonight
(friday night) sometime after 2200. i could reboot the server then,
provided
a) someone tells me the root password
b) someone explains to me _exactly_ what needs to be done once the
server is brought up. anything that is not automatically set to run on
start up, anything that needs to be stopped from running, anything that
needs to be checked that it's actually running, etc.

sometimes. leave a message and i'll get back to you. beeeeep.
