If this is one spesific network then they can allocate the requiered disk
space and download it locally. Specifically the Technion has a good link
to some other european computers (espcially on evenings) so an Israeli
mirror won't save them much, I believe.

Currently we mirror only i386 . Actually I always thought that powerpc
ditstros will be the next popular...

Currently there is 23GB free out of a total of 67GB .
