I prefer the Zope script to export it into something more sensible much
more. Or we could give up our history.

As I am aware of, they are alive and kicking and Chen is participating in
discussions of other mailing lists. The problem is that they don't seem to
have time to help the site maintainers with the technicalities.

You mean a homemade script to manage the web-log? AFAIK, there are
existing solutions like this, written in Perl, PHP, or whatever. As long
as they are SQL-based, they will be better than Squishdot, because we can
export their data to something else.
But maybe we should try to upgrade Squishdot manually, (after upgrading
Zope and installing the old Squishdot), and only give up if it doesn't
work. But we should disable the main site first, so we don't get new
posts.

I've posted a link to instructions on how to upgrade Zope on this
web-site, and also a link for the manual instructions to upgrade
Squishdot. I can re-create those links if the need arises. Try to upgrade
everything and only if it fails, we'll try to convert the site to
something else. (keeping in mind to upgrade to the new Squishdot when such
a release comes out)
