This is just to inform you that the linux.org.il site is now up and running. I have tested a few iglu-valid URLs, and to the best of my understanding they now work correctly with redirection to IGLU. Please also perform your own tests, to make sure this is, indeed, the case. There has been problems in the past, and the redirection mechanism had to be replaced.
Should I still make a 404 page with a redirection hint, teaching the
user about iglu.org.il instead?
I'll add to it, in a little while, an extra option to check the referrer. If the referrer is in the iglu.org.il domain, it will also log the redirection. This way, we will have a concise list of the places in IGLU that erronously point to IGLU under the name linux.org.il. I'm guessing that after a month or so of this we can remove the 301 and keep the page you were saying. For the time being, a 301 is necessary so that these links continue to work.
