Well, I should note that I was successfully able to complete the mirroring 
process of CPAN (just to test everything) and we now have an up-to-date CPAN 
mirror. It went pretty smoothly and one can view the log. In the process I 
needed to delete the contents of the Mandrake mirror, because it occupied too 
much space on /storage, and /storage was entirely full.
