This is hard to ensure when you remove vertices from the graph: as soon as you delete a vertex from your graph, the two IDs will be out of sync because igraph will simply use "n0", "n1", "n2" and so on in the GraphML file that is written to the disk, while it will keep the value of the "id" vertex attribute.
