STEVE GUNN (AEB)
The Wire eta Pitchfork aldizkarietako kolaboratzaile den Marc Masters-ek
ondorengoa idatzi zuen Steve Gunn-i buruz:
"Gaur egun, John Fahey-k ireki eta Loren Connors edo Jim O´Rourke bezalakoek
zabaldutako iturri oparotik edaten ari diren gitarra-bakarlari bikain asko
dago. Hainbeste, non, nabarmentzea ia ezinezkoa bihurtu den. Nolanahi ere,
Steve Gunn-ek lortu du nolabait horrelakorik egitea. Hau ez da izan nahitaez
gitarra-jotzaile bezala duen abileziagatik, hori horrelaxe izanagatik ere;
abilezia berezi hori pausatuko den estilo eta paraje ezberdinak aurkitzeko duen
senagatik baizik".
Steve Gunn gitarra-jotzaile apartekoa izan arren, azkenaldian bere ibilbidea
musikaren alderdi sortzaile-konposatzailera bideratu du, kantu propioei, bere
ahots zulatu baina ahaltsu hori erantsiz. 2009ko "Boerum Place" txalotuaren
egileak laster kaleratzekoa du lan berri bat, Black Twig Pickers taldeak zati
batzuetan lagunduta. Aurten bertan John Truscinski bateria-jotzailearekin
batera kaleratua du "Ocean Parkway" izeneko lana Three Lobed Recordings
zigiluan.
