Hi Keith,
IIS will not allow you to exclude a single IP address from authentication if basic
authentication is checked.
An effective way of dealing with your issue would be to create a new website and
assign it a subdomain. Configure it identically to the current website. Then allow
anoymouse access. However, specifically allow ONLY
the IP address that you want to allow without authentication to access this site. To
do this:
1. In the Properties window of IIS click the Directory Security Tab
2. Click the edit button in "IP Address and Domain Name Restrictions"
3. Check off "All computers denied access" and enter the allowed IP in the
listbox
The only difference is that the 1 IP address which is excluded from the authentication
will be required to access the site with a different URL and will be logged separately.
Hope this helps. Dows anybody else know of any other workarounds for this situtation?
Paul
