If its read only how do I install programs on it? Besides whats d use
making a read-only USB? Has Ubuntu started treading the path of microsoft?

As far as user is concerned I do not know exactly. I did open d terminal
once ,the prompt came something like this "[EMAIL PROTECTED]". I believe
there is no root user in the USB. It didnt ask for a username or password
either during booting just like how it is in a live CD.
