Yes folks, we are in great danger of software patents.
Recently I have attended a National level meeting on software patents, at
Bangalore ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/sujith-h/sets/72157607731318072/ )
and got much more awareness on this topic. Probably in next workshop, we
will focus on this topic and some  guest speakers will also join.

So, currently those who are interested in working/researching on this topic

year IITD -  CS students.
