There is a nice software called yumex available for Fedora Core 9.
(Its said to be the most friendly one. See Mayank's presentation here:
http://lug-iitd.org/images/c/c3/Fedora_tips.odp to see how to install.
That is also on the dvd.).
Once your packages are ready you can install yumex.
If you insist on the synaptic package manager, it is available for
Fedora also. It should be in that repository or the livna one (Doesn't
come on the DVD)
If not there you can try on rpmfind.net one of the best rpm finder
sites. http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=synaptic is
the link.
