If you don't like something, you thought my comment was an affront, why didn't you ignore it? > The reason I sent it on the IITD LUG list is because I am sure a lot of > students from IITD (Linux enthusiasts included) are interested in They might be, I cannot comment for others. I think it'll be very instructive (for me) to find out how many people found the poster relevant. All those who agree with allowing such advertisements you should please reply to this mail and have their voices heard. Mind you, I would also like to point out that if we allow this advertisement to go along, we would open (pandora's box in my opinion) gates to any kind of spam where the sender's discretetion of what is relevant for us applies. This might include mails regarding call for papers, a guy selling fake rolexes (if you think fake rolexes isn't partly driving the economy, you are fools!!), ordering medicines online (of course, even if you aren't a linux enthusiast, you still need or will need medicines) etc. Beware, your decision sets a precedent. > understanding how a business environment actually works...Mind you, Linux is > not just a technical software and an LUG is not a place where you discuss > only technical issues regarding Linux I don't know if you saw this recent thread titled "Open Source Business Models: a Taxonomy of Open Source Firms business models." I call that relevant to this mailing list.
