Just a pointer: some searching showed that this has been done before [http://doi.ieeecomputersociety.org/10.1109/LCN.2002.1181836 (2002 publication)]. They use ns2 for simulations. May be you ought to contact them? Did you see if there implementation was merged in ns2? I guess your query would be better answered at ns2's mailing list (where I see you have posted your query already).
