To explain a bit more, what you are doing is changing the password of the root user successfully but in principle, Ubuntu will ask you for _your_ password when you try to do the launch-root-nautilus here (it uses sudo to launch nautilus, more about this here -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudo).
