if this is preamble of IITD-LUG and i am in IITD-LUG, i have to accept this anyhow. We are trying to work on Linux Usability Project > (LUP) which EXCLUDE unix and all it variant. Linux itself is 'Linus's Mini UNIX' and was created in competition with SunOS. Linux is a UNIX like system and so we can never forget this ground reality. If you use Linux, you are actually using a UNIX like system. There is absolutely no problem with that. You have done a wonderful job of SchoolOS and Linux is inside it. Fine. Great. That is a great service to the UNIX community. There is no point in talking Linux excluding 'UNIX' or 'UNIX like' aspects. I want to focus on this aspect only. There is nothing like being 'Pro Linux and Anti UNIX'. It will be a blunder to do that >We will lance a unix user user group next year, please wait. LUGs/GLUGs can very well do that even if they dont rename themselves. Contributors to both Linux and BSD are common people like Alan Cox and they enjoy it. I just wish you all have a unifying UNIXifying view and enjoy Linux, BSD, opensolaris and even symbian! > Or Please make a separate forum for Unix Users. I will love to join but > your reply and mails are not constructive. It gave more feeling of debates > and deviating the thread on linux vs unix discussion. Oh no dear! I am not redoing 1857 against Linux! Its sad that my straight forward comments have been hurting the tuxers. I was expecting some saliva in your mouths. Originally, the UNIX guys never had any issues of licensing and all, before the companies came and trademarked/licensed this and that. The academic guys freely shared all UNIX stuff. Eric Allman (Sendmail) verifies all this in "The Code" documentary. Linux is just another UNIX like clone. Its physics and it does not disturb your chemistry with Linux. An open mindset accepts all FOSS versions of Unices with applause and i just request that. Kindly see all my mails in this light. We are one for sure. Next time you can read Linux when i say UNIX like or UNIX :) Mohit Singh ------------------ Today's Imagination is Tomorrow's Innovation Today's Innovation is Tomorrow's Common Sense Today's Common Sense is Tomorrow's Nonsense -- l...@iitd - http://tinyurl.com/ycueutm
