yes. I too worked in latex with tamil unicode fonts. i referred the
following post.

And we translated ubuntu manual guide in tamil for 10.04 and released it.

The interesting thing is , the launchpad translation also made by latex.

And we used the tamil unicode in latex to achieve that. :-)
