This isn't like GIMP or blender or even Linux, that has been widely tested. Even UNIX that runs on most servers is/was well tested at Bell labs and other places. Let's face it... unlike many domains, ERP is one domain where there are virtually no OSS, that can be deployed. Lets say, Indian Railways goes OSS way and makes a CRM(maybe GNU Enterprise). I agree irctc was crappy till a few days back (few improvements recently), but if the OSS crashes (as far as I know it hasn't tested been widely) or behaves strangely, we will be the first people cursing them and saying that "Our govt. does nothing blah blah". Now definitely Railways isn't in a position to fix it as on date, esp. given that most of the engineers/developers aren't interested in Govt. jobs. So the end result? A completely useless solution developed at a cost which is sent in through the drain. My take on it? ERP is probably best in proprietary. Its a very bad decision to do a business deployment without confirmed support and possibilities of it. -- Lots o' Luv, Phani Bhushan Let not your sense of morals prevent you from doing what is right - Isaac Asimov (Salvor Hardin in Foundation and Empire) Please avoid sending me Word or PowerPoint attachments.
