That's what I do. I don't rely on pendrives to store my research work. Once
I finish printing, I use ubuntu to format my drive. Thanks for your
suggestion.

Well, I understand the issue with MS Word 2007 files because I have faced
them myself. Isn't there a work around like someone suggesting a plugin. I
frequently see him formatting his system because it is infected with virus.
To begin with, maybe we could setup a dual boot or install Windows as a VM.
That way, chances of his system getting infected with viruses is minimal.
