Hi people,

I need to set up a Ubuntu 10.10 startup disk (USB pen drive) so that my
sister can use Ubuntu on a computer without having to install it on that
computer at all (The reason for this is that it's my parents' computer and I
don't want them to have strange problems with dual boot when I am away, at
college.).

But when I tried doing this with a 2 GB pen drive, I wasn't initially able
to install any software packages. After this, I tried installing all the
updates with Update Manager, but that caused the memory to become full.

So what's the solution? Can I install the packages I need to without having
to install all the updates? Or is it necessary to install the updates? In
that case, what is the minimum size of the pen drive I will need?

Help will be appreciated. Please let me know if I've left something out.

Thanks,
Mihir.
