Dear Prof. Parthasarathy, I use a similar configuration, but an older
model (Vostro 1500). Currently, I have Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat
running on it. Absolutely no complaints, except that when it was bought,
it not just burned a hole in the pocket (the list price was over 5
figures in 2008), it burns the lap, too.
When placed on the lap, it is very comfortable in winters.
I have to lug (pun intended) along a cooling pad. No other complaints.
I used to earlier run Mandriva on it, till the 2008 edition, after which I
accidentally switched over to Ubuntu, and my allegiances stay with Ubuntu.
