You can certainly do it., there are two method to do it
1) Scim {OLD method}
2) ibus {new method}

If this was not possible then how other are contributing to FOSS in
Indic language.
If IBUS is not working in ubuntu then it is fault of Ubuntu. Please
use Debian or fedora because latest ubuntu is quite unstable

You are wrong because you have not specified context here. Also I do
not think there is any need to advocate opensource in this forum
because we already know what is opensource & what is freedom
software.. We do advocacy out of this forum.. we plan and discuss
here.
