My friend wants to have a dual boot system windows 7 alongside with
ubuntu. He has windows 7 installed already and wants to install ubuntu
via wubi installer but the wubi installer gives an error saying
"Error executing command C:\Windows\System32\bcdedit.exe /set {...}
device partition = H:
stderr=An error has occurred setting the element data.
The request is not supported.
"
Googling leads me to think that the error is due to his disk being a
'Dynamic Disk' instead of a 'Basic Disk'. This is also preventing him
from installing ubuntu using the live CD.
We tried to find a way to convert dynamic disk into basic disk and all
we could find is that a partition can not be converted, the whole disk
will have to be converted and that too involves deleting the whole hard
disk and we think doing so will also delete things like bios and a
hidden partition named system(which could be some important as we don't
know much about it.)
So please guide me regarding this.
