Sorry to say, what you just said is just BS. you are so misinformed.

Mysql - Contrary to what you said. Mysql still open source, Licensed
under GNU General Public License v2. Further, its under active
development with latest version 5.5.12  released on May 5, 2011; 11
days ago. if you were using it till now, I see no reason to stop using
it

Skype - It was/is closed source software using a proprietary protocol.
whoever told you that skype was opensource was WRONG!


About your concern of conversion of from opensource to proprietary
license. Let me remind you, there are safeguard provisions under the
GPL will not allow this and further, any any given time, open source
projects can forked. so even if the company decides to do further
development under proprietary license which is highly unlikely but if
that happen, The project can forked, development goes on. OpenOffice
vs LibreOffice is a example. so you can be sure that all great open
source software you are using till now are going to stay open source.
