You don't have to start another session (using ssh or opening terminal). You can use the same terminal where you receive the "Message from x@y on pty/z ..." message. When you receive this, type in that same console "write x pty/z" . I am assuming that both the users are logged onto the same machine (be it via ssh or any other way).
