As far as I have seen pages, there DOES exist the date of last updation of
the page. Considering the technical aspect of this, a web site administrator
himself has to keep a track of the date of updation of the web page (as in
the last time when a user added a comment etc.). There are even sites where
a post/thread is removed after a specified number of days.

So my honest opinion would be to look for the date of modification  yourself
and then only to decide whether the information is helpful or not.
