Dear all,
I have been working on my debian 5.0 (on CQ45-137Tx laptop) since I
bought it (January-2009). It had been working quite satisfactorily.
However, for last few days, I have been facing an irritating (misc)
problem:

following actions take much more time than usual. (e.g, 20 to 30
seconds in opening a 1K file in vi) : Opening a new terminal, opening
a file in vi, opening a file (e.g., a pdf document) etc....

Once opened in vi, the system works normally while editing, no problem
of speed....

Opening another terminal from an existing one also opens fast. But,
opening a fresh terminal again (clicking on the shortcut or through
Application-Accessories->,...... takes a very long time again....
Pl note that, on the same machine, this problem is not observed during
a KDE session or on a console (non-X mode), also not on the Windows-7
(dual boot).

Hence, it can be inferred that, the problem is with X of Gnome only...
But, where? I request you to suggest, pl.
