Hi Harish,

You can have only four primary partition in a hard drive or 3 primary and 1 
extended partition (any number of partition within extended partition).
As you already have 4 primary partition, if you shrink any one of them you 
will not be able to create any partition hence space will be "Unusable". 

I will suggest removing primary partition next to your unusable space and 
creating extended partition in that space. Further Linux can be installed in 
any Logical partition :)

*(most probably partition next to your shrink volume will be a recovery one. 
If this is the case you can create recovery disk on optical media and safely 
delete this partition).
