I would recommend you to read this book and MIT's OCW is great resource.

However, there is no point in creating a fancy C compiler on your own
unless its a hobby project or you are working on a weird machine with
no cross-compiler for it. Its just __re-inventing__ the wheel. Its
better you do some live projects that would be useful too. So you will
be wasting most of your productive time re-inventing stuffs that has
already been done. Hope you got my point.
