I assume the driver is e1000e. You could try (if the driver is already
available on your system but not loaded):

  # modprobe e1000e

Any reason for choosing Ubuntu 9.10? You might want to consider using
a more recent distribution.

You can also use a search engine to search for "Ubuntu Intel 1502
linux driver" or related, and find out how people have installed a
driver for the above. For a start:
