1. Does upgrade of Ubuntu leave any redundant files of previous installations ?
There may be some, but I imagine they would be very few. For example,
most of configuration files /etc would get over-written and you may be
prompted to decide if you want to keep the original config files or
the install the new ones.
AFAIK, all libraries are upgraded and you don't end up having two
versions of a library unless there is some specific tool available in
the upgrade which relies on an older version of the library.

2. What is the extra size taken by upgrade of Ubuntu?
don't know.

3. Does upgade create new separate copies of everything ?
No.

4. Ubuntu releases upgrades frequently , so upgrading wont create too
much log and redundant files ?
No and see #1.
