I too had problems setting up bsnl my device has software fro 32 bit but Im using 64 bit linux so I cudnt install that software anyway I found this nice post it just solved my problem http://www.bsnlevdo.in/evdo/setup-bsnl-evdo-usb-modem-in-linux/
The post is old and I didnt have to do that all procedure, all u need to do is check lsusb if u can find ur device listed go ahed and check sudo tail -f /var/log/messages I found my device showing ttyUSB0,ttyUSB1,ttyUSB2,ttyUSB3, In that post its only ttyUSB0 so I had to try All 4 of them, to do that edit /etc/wvdail.conf [Dialer Defaults] New PPPD = yes ISDN = 0 Phone = #777 Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0 Username = 165 Password = 165 Stupid Mode = 1 then run wvdail as root and yes u need to install wvdail if u dont have it On Tue, Apr 10, 2012 at 9:27 PM, Debasish Ray Chawdhuri < [email protected]> wrote: > if you cannot find your modem, you could use dmesg messages.
