You can manually configure it using "wvdial". i was having same problem with my photon+ but resolved. sudo apt-get install wvdial tutorial for photon+ is below http://tusharmaroo.wordpress.com/2012/01/30/how-to-install-photon-in-ubuntu-11-10-linux/ perhaps it can help you better
