Hi.

When a page gets downloaded from the browser instead of getting rendered,
it means that the setup has proceeded but that the server is unable to
'understand' the type of the file.

You can try uploading some html file(s) to the server and check whether
they are being rendered properly. In case they are, there is some issue
with the server configuration, else the installation has some problems.

I have not worked on lamp.. I guess using XAMPP for linux is an easier way
out to the problem - it has PHP, MySQL, Apache bundled together.
