You will find that a similar prpblem arises in mysql as well and it
allows you to provide the password as a command line argument. The
only other option I can think of right now is for you to save the
piped output to a file (o a named pipe/fifo) but I have a feeling you
are not going to like that solution either.

As an aside, you may want to see what "unset HISTFILE" does.

Wait, does something like this work (try it)?
 $ (getpassword ; genemail ) | sendemail
where getpassword simply echoes the typed password (use term::readkey
for both getpassword and sendemail).
