Hi. The concept behind this is quite simple and is explained by the literal meaning of the words dump and pass.
Dump is used to indicate whether the drive contents will be dumped (saved) in the form of dump in case of filesystem error. Pass is used to indicate the number of passes that are used by the operating system to read and index the contents of the drive in question. Still i would request you to dig out more information regarding this topic as that would be more specific and technical. -- Sent from Nokia C5-00 -----Original message----- From: arshpreet singh Sent: 2012-09-27, 09.41 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [LUG@IITD:16404] /etc/fstab-dumb and pass > See `man fstab`. thanks for million dollar reply :) ;) but i was asking about the concept behind this not using of 00 01 12 11 etc -- Thanks Arshpreet singh http://arshpreetsingh.wordpress.com/ -- Mailing list guidelines and other related articles: http://lug-iitd.org/Footer -- Mailing list guidelines and other related articles: http://lug-iitd.org/Footer
